Polarforscher:innen untersuchen Eis, Ozeane, Atmosphäre, Tiere, Mikroorganismen, Permafrost, Klimaveränderungen und vieles mehr. Dabei leben sie oft wochen- oder monatelang in Forschungsstationen oder auf Expeditionsschiffen – mitten im Eis oder auf dem Meer.
Auch Berufe wie Techniker:in, Schiffsmechaniker:in, Kommunikationsexperte:in, Logistiker:in, Medizinier:in oder Koch/Köchin sind auf Polarexpeditionen gefragt!

How do I become a polar researcher?
Polar researchers study ice, oceans, the atmosphere, animals, microorganisms, permafrost,climate change and much more. Their work often takes them to remote research stations or expedition ships, where they may live for weeks or even months at a time in the middle of the ice or out on the open ocean.
But it’s not just scientists who are needed on polar expeditions. Technicians, ship mechanics, communications specialists, logistics experts, medical staff and cooks all play essential roles as well.
